Default Peoples Champ: ECW

I think it is pretty safe to say when it comes to the WWF/E that The Rock is the peoples champ. Just by watching his return on Raw and then the praises he received over the net alone show that he is the People's champ of WWE.

But with that said, lookin back at ECW, who was their peoples champ.. Who was the working man's wrestler. And who did everyone have a loyal love for in and out of the ring.

There are many people who stick out Tommy Dreamer, Eddy Gerruero, The Sandman, Tazz, Sabu, RVD, New Jack, and many others who could be given this title. But who best fits the title.........

I'd give that to Dreamer, not only because he was with ECW from its first days as 'Extreme Championship Wrestling' until its final day of life but that he broke his back and busted his ass to carry ECW durning its struggling times and was one of the biggest fan favorites of the ECW crowd.

I'd have to go with Sandman. Hell, the guy even made his entrance through the crowd a lot of the time. He was just an ordinary kinda guy...smoked, drank, didn't have a spectacular physique, had no amazing technical or lucha skills. He could just as easily have been some guy on the front row with his buddies. But Dreamer would definitely be a close second.

well, I'm a Sandman mark, as you know.....but he's not the people's champ of the ECW....neither is Dreamer.....

People's champ of ECW, based upon many things, the biggest of which being that he didn't hold the belt but is the most succesful after ECf'nW......is Rob Van Dam.....

face it.....what has any of the others done after ECW that matters?.....Raven may come a close second, but RVD has managed to stay in the mainstream that is WWE and be a crowd favorite to this day.....

he is the embodiment of all that was good about ECW, and at the same time why ECW couldn't stick around.....he is ECW's people's champ.....he is Rob.....Van.....Dam

Yes..I have to say RVD here...he was the cornerstone of ECW...When somebody said, did you watch ECW last night....RVD would pop into that other persons mind...He was just...so over in ECW..It wasn't even funny.
