Default Why does Shawn Micheals think?

He was the one that was screwed in montreal? He said in a 2002 interview he couldnt believe Bret would side with Vince and do something like that to him! He also said 2 years ago that God told him he had done nothing wrong! Is he just in denial about what happend that night or is he trying to be obnoxious about it?

He thinks that he was screwed like this.

First, it was set for him to origanlly win the title. But Mr. Hart did not want to loose in his home town. So it was agreed that Mr. Michaels would not win the title that night.

In reality, Mr. Michaels was just basically handed the title. Which didn't look to well for the audience. So he feels as if he was screwed into winning the title. With out putting his all into that match.

There have been so many variations on this story that it just sickening. Here goes...

Bret hated Shawn. Shawn hated Bret.

Vince wanted Shawn to be champ for the direction his company was going.

Bret had creative control of his character and did not want to drop to Shawn. He was okay with dropping to Undertaker or Mick Foley.

Vince Bret agree to a Broadway finish for Summerslam with Bret relinquishing the belt before his departure to WCW.

Vince balks at the '11th hour'...worried that Bret will pull an Alundra Blaze on another WWF Title. He has a closed door with Shawn and friends.

Earl calls for bell. Shawn gets belt and acts all disgusted...'I don't want to win like this'. Bret spits and later punches Vince.

It is easy to rewrite history in one's own mind. Right Shawn? It is harder when eyewitnesses such as Mick Foley, Undertaker, and a documentary (of all things) give facts.

You have to forgive Shawn for his backtracking. Years of drugs and later concussions have impaired his memory somewhat.

Bret Hart refused to lose the match in Montreal. He wanted to come out the next night on Raw and hand the title over to Vince. Vince had two problems with this, and rightfully so: 1) After the Montreal match, Bret would no longer be part of the WWE. 2) Not only was Bret leaving, but he was leaving for WCW, which at the time was about to put WWE out of business. Bret doing it his way would have been arrogant and unprofessional.

Vince was backed into a corner. Could you let this guy, who was leaving for your biggest competitor, make a fool out of you and your company on your flagship show? WWE would have officially been a joke. And Bret would not relent. Vince had not other option.

Triple H seemed to get the ball rolling, but when it comes down to the business, Bret was in the wrong. Plain and simple. Vince would've asked Bret's opponent to do this no matter who it was. In fact, he didn't even have to tell him and could've just told the ref to wait for the first submission move he saw.

But he knew Shawn Michaels respects the business. He trusted Shawn to do the right thing because Bret simply wouldn't. Bret was the one who wanted to do the obnoxious thing.

Whatever. They patched things up, anyway.
