Default Do you think Mick Foley could have made it in the WWE if he debuted today?

i just got done watching some old Foley matches.

and i wondered to myself, why we don't see people like him anymore in WWE.

then i realized, that it's because WWE is more concerned with looks. and Foley looks about as bad as he was a good wrestler/mic worker.

so my question is, could he have made it in today's look obsessed WWE climate?

@ Pip Boy: im sorry let me clarify.

if he debuted now at his prime

no he is talented but he is an old man

Oh,ok well i think they would only push him as far as an upper mid-carder because of the way he looks like you said

Mick Foley is too Hardcore for PG!!!

Even before he entered WWE, he was something of a Hardcore legend in WCW and before that the smaller independant promotions.

I think he could, but he wouldn't be able to do the stuff he did do in the Attitude Era.

They'd probably have him as the mystery GM or something or a commentator like Booker T.

If he were in his prime? Yes. Considering he has better mic and ring ability than The Miz.

Yeah, but BECAUSE of his looks, and considering Mick's awesome talent on the mic, his ability to work crowds, and his ability to make you believe what he's doing is pretty damn real.

Mick is too talented for Vince to pass up.

Back before he became the Hardcore Legend and half killed himself in Japan to earn that distinction, he was Cactus Jack, a wild and crazy brawler who got rather famous for beating up his various tag team partners after matches they lost, and for the crazy bumps he took. He wasn't all blood and barbed-wire then; that came later. Everybody watching could see Mick had it then.

The WWE has become infamous for their looks over talent mindset. Yet Vince pushes some of the most...bizarre...looking wrestlers, too. Viscera, King Kong Bundy, Khali, Yokozuna, Rikishi, etc. Vince would have found a way to push Mick Foley, too. Either as the wild and crazy heel brawler Cactus Jack, or the human muppet face Mick Foley. Mick CAN be very entertaining without blowing himself up, setting himself on fire, and slicing himself to ribbons. Vince would find a way to harness and focus that talent to fit into his PG family-friendly WWE of today.
