Default XBL vs PSN

I've had about 3 and a half years experience with XBL, and about a month or so experience with PSN, but basing it off of my experiences with both, XBL is way easier to use than PSN.

It's so much easier to get a game goin' with your friends on XBL and it's hella more detailed what they're doin' to know if they might even wanna play a game with you.

The Marketplace is easier to navigate as well and find the new content, although it's a bit harder since they released the NXE.

I do like that a lot of the themes/wallpapers on the PSN Store are free, but thus far from my personal experiences, that's PSN's only advantage.

Again, I've had a lot more time with XBL and a lot more games, but it's always been easy to get a game goin' with friends. It's harder to do the same thing on PSN.

Anyone else wanna post their views of the service they use? Point out where I may be off base or where you agree with me.

Xer0 expressed pretty much the same sentiment to me a couple of months ago. When it's fully up and running, HOME is supposed to be a much more intuitive and easy to use interface for online gaming, but A) I'll believe it when I see it and B) I'll believe it when I see it.

Meh...PSN's got it's ups and downs. The free themes and wallpapers is okay...their premium ones are definitely not worth the dollar they're asking for. Some of the downloadable games are really cool like SIREN, Echochrome and Super Stardust HD...a lot of freaks are in love with their Pixel Junk series, but I haven't dabbled in that yet.

Big up is the whole "free" thing...but then you have to put up with everything else. For example...I got my PS3 back from Sony and all my mem files were still on there, but a lot of my settings were changed.

The I/O for Wireless Devices was previously set to Headset, but it wasn't when I got it back, hence me sitting around one night gaming with a BT headpiece stuck in my ear even though it wasn't "working" at the time.

The message settings were ****ed with...when you sent me that message last night?? Yeah, used to be I'd get a little note in the upper right corner of the game "STICKzophrenic has sent you a Message."

No...didn't get any indicator. Checked my inbox tonight and saw it for the first time. My bad, BTW.

Madden...Madden can be a pain in the ass. Hooking up for a game with a friend is either hellaeasy or incredibly difficult, depends on what side of the bed your internet connection got up on.

Laggers on PSN are awful. Last night in KZ online, I experienced some of the worst lag I've ever seen. And I'm addicted to MGO...I've seen lag, I know lag, I've played people who lag like Hayden Christiansen in JUMPER. And I saw NOTHING like the shit I saw last night.

Corinth Crossing. Last night. Mother****er on the top pulpit at the bridge's highest point was at one point a good 30 yards to the right of the railing...looking like he was ****ing FLYING.

I was aiming for one guy about twenty yards away at eleven o'clock, next thing I know, he's disappeared...only to reappear behind me, guns blazing. Worthless cheating bitchasses.

I've heard XBL is the shit...and that it's easy to tell why and justify to yourself the cost of XBL once you're on it.

Some Sony users who aren't fortunate enough to have both the 3 and the 360 say they want Sony to start charging so that it will upgrade the experience to be more intuitive and user friendly like XBL...but I'm not convinced that Sony would really do anything other than add a fee for the service.

Meh...I put up with it...it's a lot better on the 3 than it was on the 2, I can tell you. But at the end of the day, it's free. Users have taken their concerns to Sony, but we get the feeling that the thought process on the suit side is "What Do You Want For Nothing?"

And that's just sad.

If you or someone you know has been caused grief by an "Internet Bully" then you and/or that person is nothing but a little punk ass bitch, and the world would be a better, more manly place if you'd just jump off a fucking bridge already. Late.

Thanks for the info. About the message the other night, it's cool bro, no worries It isn't like that was the once in a lifetime opportunity to game together Plenty of other chances will be there Oh yeah, it's also easier to know when you get messages on XBL. it pops up a huge notification at the bottom in the middle. Sometimes if I'm really into a game on PS3, it's easy to miss getting the message since it's kinda discreet up there in the corner.

As for Home, I haven't even messed with it but for a minute. I went into the little plaza where the music is playing, and I sat down on the ground in the middle of everyone. Someone came up and put their ass in my face and said, "Sniff it!" I laughed, mostly because I've heard Sony Fanboys go on about how much more mature PS3 online users are than XBL onliners.

It's easier to justify when you get it off of Ebay for $12-$15 less than retail.

There's always a lot of community info and shit on there as well. I would like to get more acquainted with PSN, but it's hard coming over from XBL, where you can get your squad ready before even launching the game, then goin' in and gettin' it all set up with ease.

Not loving XBL myself. The whole "Points" system is horseshit, and some of the menus suck.

Tons more content on XBL tho. I dunno. I'm at work and can't get into too much detail without getting interrupted.

I've only ever played a 360 a couple times. And neither of those times was it online, so I have no idea what XBL is like. But I really like the PSN and the way it's incorporated into the XMB during games. I wanna start by saying that I've only played a few games of GTA IV and Team Fortress 2 online until I got Resistance 2. So I'm no hardcore gamer. But I have spent almost all my free time on Resistance 2 since like January

I really like the XMB. You can see what your friends are playing, you can see every person you've ever played online with, send messages, etc. And you can also do all that stuff from within games which is really cool. I don't know about other games, but in Resistance 2 you can pull up your buddy list and it's really easy to navigate. One tab is for your party which you can have up to 30 people in. The next shows all your friends. It tells if they're online and if they're playing the game and what they are doing in the game. The last one shows your clan. You can go to anyones name and invite or join parties. It's really nice.

Now I can't speak for other games or systems but the PSN is perfect for me. If it ever charged I probably wouldn't play games online. So as of right now I'll take it over a subscription service.

I've only seen PSN a few times at my buddy's house and it looks nice but it also does look a bit complicated, I didn't get to experience it much because I was only messing around with it for like a minute.

I can say that I'm happy with the 360 and find the layout of it to be better and easier to use, yeah paying for stuff sucks but I don't mind doing it if it's something that I really want. The NXE took a bit to get used to but I love it now, I love messing around with my avatar and the party system is awesome.

LMAO STICK that's hilarious...I don't know who Sony Fanboy thinks their kidding...maturity is not American Sony User's strong suit.

...sniff it...

Yeah, Home is kinda gay right now. I hear there's all sorts of agreements in place with all sorts of companies or whatever...it's pretty gay. It's supposed to be improving and becoming a place to meet and launch online games from...we'll see.

If it doesn't...then it's one big waste of millions of Sony dollars. Probably billions based on how long this has been in development...
