Default Game of the Month

This is something I thought about and thought it could work. This month there have been a lot of great games released. This is your time to cast your vote as to which was the best.

Voting will consist of five sections worth 20 points each. These sections are:

Storyline: How good was the storyline? Did you feel you could relate to the story? Did it constantly keep you on edge?

Gameplay: How much did you enjoy the actual interactive parts of the game?

Characters: Were they completely ridiculous or people you may find in your every day to day life?

Online Play: Did the game offer online play and did you play on it? Did the online mode offer new features which keep you interested in the game?

Value for money: Was the game worth parting with your cash for?

Even if you haven't played any of these games give it a rating based on what you know through reviews, hearsay etc....

So PWF here is your selection of games for the month of June:

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - The final part in the epic story of fictional soldier, Solid Snake. In this game every small detail in the games story is revealed in its fullest. Undoubtedly one of the standout games of the year.

Alone in the Dark - Set in New York, Edward Carnby (Main Protagonist from the first AITD) continues to try and unlock the mystery of what happens below Central Park. Rumors of suspicious activity below the park lead Edward to find a solution to the ongoing problem. The interactivity with your surroundings in this game have lead to it being highly rated by many respected websites.

Battlefield: Bad Company - EA's first person shooter puts you in the middle of a war between the United States and Russia. You are fighting as the leader of a group of AWOL soldier who must battle through enemy soldier and independent mercenaries. Early reviews praise the game for its interactivity with the gameplay environment where almost anything is destroyable.

Ninja Gaiden II - Highly rated by many top game sites and touted as a possible candidate for game of the year. The game expands on Ninja Gaiden by adding more weapons and bigger levels much to the delight of hardened gamers. Despite also being met with some discrepancies regarding the storyline it is still described as a "brilliant game".

There you are PWF. Let's hear what you think of these four brilliant games.

This is only a tester and depending on how many responses I get I may make this a constant addition to the G&T forum.

I completely forgot about Ninja Gaiden II.

Right, taking out Rock Band and putting Gaiden in.

Thanks xer0.

Ninja Gaiden 2. Pure and simple. I would add Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 to the list, but meh.

I was planning on keeping it between the big consoles for the moment. Then eventually get on to the handhelds.

Usually there aren't this many great titles released in the same time frame. I would probably expand this to three months or six months. Since it's for June, that would work out perfectly for the first half of the year, or the second quarter of the month.

Out of those games, I'd pick NGII since it's the only one I've played.

Do what Stick said and make it a quarterly thing. Let people nominate games they liked, that way people are more likely to be rating games they have played.

Yeah, I think I'm going to do that now anyway. This was more of a trial and error thing and I knew it wouldn't really work based on the monthly game releases.

I'll have some voting up soon for the best games of the first quarter of 2008.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was just ridiculous.

I think I'd have to go with Ninja Gaiden II as well.

I've only just started the game and I already think it's amazing,it can be a bit difficult at times and the camera sucks but I can look past those things and say it's an amazing game.

Grid owns your face.

Ninja Gaiden was fun but I didn't have the patience to fight the same boss 50 times before I figured out how to kill him. The difficulty don't bother me really, I don't expect to go through the entire game without dying or nothing, but it was a bit much. Definitely a good rent tho.

Alone in the Dark should get an award for the biggest disappointment. I was really looking forward to it. It just wasn't fun. The inventory system needs a huge overhaul and some of the ways they implemented fire as a weapon were just ridiculous. Pass on this one..

Bad Company was ok. Decent story for a shooter but sometimes it's attempt at humor wasn't very funny. The destructable environment was fun for about 5 minutes. The multiplayer is a great alternative to CoD4. Good for a rent.

Haven't played MGS4 yet. Getting a PS3 on Friday. I'll let you know then..
