Sega Plus Coke Equals Free Stuff
Coca-Cola and ESPN Videogames join forces in a new promotion.

February 06, 2004 - Starting in March gamers will be able to score discounts on ESPN games by purchasing Coca-Cola products. The under-the-cap program will offer one dollar coupons that are redeemable online. Players can collect up to ten dollars off any ESPN Videogame. The ESPN line of games was formerly known as the "2K" series and is developed by Visual Concepts Entertainment, a branch of SEGA.

The promotion begins with the college basketball season in March and will run through the beginning of the football season in October. It will appear on 20-ounce bottles of Coca-Cola classic, Vanilla Coke, and cherry Coke. Other prizes include a ride along in a stock car and free products from both Coke and ESPN Videogames.

It is interesting to note that this is the "first national initiative in electronic gaming" by Coca-Cola. Hopefully the trend will continue as I am fully in favor of receiving free stuff.
