God dammit that was so much fucking bullshit. I can't believe he would end a show about the mob like that. Now there's some people on the internet thinking that maybe the reason the show went blank for a couple seconds before the credits was because tony got shot. But that's fucking bullshit.

What do you think.

i'll put what i put on myspace and shit

i dunno, i'm torn about it actually

part of me feels empty, and feels that the final episode didnt feel "final"

then on the other hand, it did feel final. the show was always presented as a look in the life of a mob family, and just because the "show" ended, didnt mean they had to end. its as if life goes on, just we dont get to see it. i was really glad tony or paulie didnt get iced, since i love them. and really, majority of the loose ends presented were tied up. Sil is still and is gonna be a vegetable, Phil is dead, Tony is still paranoid like hes always been.

but i cant say for sure if i like it or not, i just know im gonna miss that fucking show. and either way, love the ending or hate it, its genius. it did what it was supposed to do: get ya talking. and i think if they woulda done something like tony getting shot and dying, the talk woulda been much more linear. with this ending, the talk/debate can go many ways. "did the family get whacked in the diner? did the fbi come in?"

to me, the end was brilliant on David Chase's part

The more I think about it I liked the ending too but still IMO I think it should have went out the way a mafia show should go out. Mainly because I wanted to see James Gandolfini get shot in his greedy fuckin head.

You could also look at the quick cut to black as simply our view of the Soprano's life coming to an end. The world will always be like this for Tony..Paranoia abound..Always worried..The cut to black may have just said..Our view into this world is over...Life Goes on. It also could mean that once Tony was shot..There was no need to see anything..Or hear anything..For Tony was the show..And Once he was gone..There was no need for anything else to be shown. Remember..In the Godfather..An orange represented someone going down..And whats Tony got in the beginning of the episode..An Orange. In an earlier season..Bobby tells Tony something to the effect of when he gets shot.."He'll never see or hear it coming.."..Which would apply here. I just don't believe Tony got shot. I don't think Chase would do it...And I'll explain that in a second. It all seemed to hyped up for the shooting to ACTUALLY happen. The whole parking incident..The suspicuous guy in the bathroom..Tony's paranoia..I don't think Chase would go for the OBVIOUS ending.

The kicker?..When Tony goes to the jukebox..What song is on there?.."Any Way You Want It."..Which was NOT a B-Side with the song it was with, as it was recorded years earlier. What does this mean..Chase wants you to interpret it...Any Way You Want It. Kinda Lame.

Personally..I don't think there is an ending to be found. Call me cynical..But this does nothing but absoultely SKYROCKET DVD sales for Chase's commentary on what his thought process was..And if a wad of cash is thrown at him..A Soprano's movie..It would focus on Tony's pending idictment..And the rebuilding of the NJ/NY mob with many of the main players down. Was the ending done for an artistic effect?..Most likely..But it's an easy cop-out to get filthy, filthy rich as well.

I thought my fucking DVR cut out at the end so I watched it again On Demand.

Bobby's dead, Sil's in the hospital, Christopher's dead, Phil's dead, Tony's shrink left him, and AJ is still alive but should be dead.

I don't know what to think of this last episode. I mean, almost every episode leading up to this one has been flawless. But it's just too hard for me to say that I liked the ending. It's a series finale and they ended it with a black screen. Now I will say that I don't think anyone got shot in that diner. The thing I like about The Sopranos is that they always like to build scenes up as if something big is going to happen... and then nothing happens. It's genius how they do it, but not in this case.

I'm actually really pissed about this ending. You've got a mob war going on and a lot of your family is dead. Killing Phil seems to fix everything for Tony. Either way, they ended the show during both a war and indictment charges, leaving no conclusion. It seems more like they set it up for another season (not that they did).

I was pretty disappointed by this finale. It's no where near the calibur of the last couple of episodes. Shit was heating up more and more throught the season and all we have to show for it is Phil dead and a black screen.

It almost makes me want to buy the DVDs just to see if they add a fucking ending. They won't.

One, the orange was representative of Phil Leotardo's death.

I remember a while ago Bobby Bacala said something about "you never hear it" regarding getting killed.

I'm thinking the guy came out of the bathroom and killed everyone at the table.

The last episode was also the most poorly edited one I've ever seen. It was choppy as hell.

It may go down as the worst series finale ever.

People all over boards were saying the orange represented Tony's death...Oh well.

The cast has said they shot at least 3-5 other endings for the finale. Put those on a DVD and you have one of the highest selling DVD's of all-time. Seems more and more like it was done for the money to me.

I don't watch the show, but this is what I've heard so far...

1) Almost everybody in the resturaunt was someone Tony had come into contact with in the past.
2) On a previous episode someone had said to Tony about death, "it's like the screen just goes blank"

I've heard people suggest that they made it so that nothing happened so that those final few minutes would be extreemly tense. They suggested that they were trying to put you in Tony's shoes. Put you through for a few minutes what Tony must go through 24/7. They say that the screen going blank refers to that past episode when they were talking about death. They say that you saw Tony's death through Tony's eyes, while going through what he goes through.

I understand what chase did there because during those finale couple of minutes I personally was extremely tense just waiting for some shit too happen.

But when I calmed down and thought about the ending again this morning I think it was a fucking brilliant ending. By just having life go on for tony and his family they either leave it open for possibly another season(if fucking gandolfini gets off his high horse) or maybe a movie. And even though neither of those will happen it's kinda nice knowing that maybe they could.

But still it would have been fucking nice to see gandolfini get shot in the face.

I loved the ending, and my sundays will never be the same. If you been on PWF for a while you know I loved that fucking show, and I'm glad I didn't have too see Tony get killed, yet I still know it's a possibility. Tony was going through so much, and killing Phil was just the end to one of his many problems. Now he's about the face the feds, or Phil's nephew in the "Members Only" jacket finally got revenge for his too uncles, Billy and Phil.

I would go in to depth about the show, but it'll fall on deaf ears. Made in America was the 2nd best show in the history of TV, and Blue Comet was the best show ever. The Sopranos as a show has tooken a lot of shit through the years, I find it hilarious that Chase drawed all the "rats" back in, and whacked the fucking audience. If you haven't watched the show 8 yeasr, your going to be dissapointed in the ending, and you shouold be. If you have watched it for 8 years, it was a perfectly acceptable ending that made a ton of sense.

After watching it a third time, I've come to realize that that finale may be one of the best finales in the history of TV. It's genious.

Default Blame Journey (MTV)

Journey Singer Insisted On Knowing 'Sopranos' Finale Before Allowing Song Use
Steve Perry didn't want to see 'the Soprano family being whacked to 'Don't Stop Believin'.'
By Gil Kaufman

Del.icio.us Digg Newsvine Send Print You Tell Us

If you were surprised by the "Sopranos" series-ending cliffhanger, just imagine how show creator David Chase was feeling just days before the finale aired: He still had not received permission to use Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' " in the show's controversial final scene.

"The request came in a few weeks ago and it wasn't until Thursday that it got approval, because I was concerned," revealed former Journey singer Steve Perry on Tuesday (June 12). Perry and former bandmates guitarist Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain had to agree on the use of the song in the show, and though Perry said the trio don't agree on much, the "Sopranos" denouement was one of the few times since Perry left the band in 1998 that the guys have shaken hands on something unanimously.

But first, Perry made Chase an offer he couldn't refuse: He insisted on knowing what happens to the Soprano clan before signing off (see " 'Sopranos' Creator David Chase Talks About Finale, Denies 'Trying To Blow People's Minds' " and "How Will 'Sopranos' Meet Its End? Silvio And Bobby Aren't Talkin' ").

"I was not excited about [the possibility of] the Soprano family being whacked to 'Don't Stop Believin'," said Perry, who watched the show with glee Sunday night and again on Monday. "I told them, 'Unless I know what happens and I will swear to secrecy I can't in good conscience feel good about its use.'" The show's producers made Perry promise to keep it under his lid, which he did, and then they spilled the beans on how the song was used and how the show ends, after which Perry signed off.

Interestingly, Cain who wrote the song with Perry and Schon told The Associated Press that he didn't know how it would be used when they agreed to the licensing. He kept the fact that the song would be used in the show a secret even from his family.

"I didn't want to blow it," he told AP. "Even my wife didn't know. She looked at me and said, 'You knew that and you didn't tell me?' "

"I can hardly put in words how good it makes me feel, to be honest with you," said Perry about the pivotal role the song played, jokingly adding that he's not nearly as "reclusive" as MTV News made him sound in a story that ran on Monday (see " 'Sopranos' Is Latest To Keep The Faith In Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin' ' ").

"There's nothing more in my lifetime that I wanted than to be part of a band that wrote the kind of music we did when we were together. ... When I saw ['The Sopranos'] last night, what I saw was the director pull back into the foundation that was there all along during the most important moment when all this chaos [is going on]. The song was, literally, cutting from lyric to lyric, from mother to son to James [Gandolfini] at the key moment and on [the lyric] 'streetlight people,' it pulls back with the cameras to reveal a streetlight and I said, 'My God, this director [Chase] got it. He got the song!' "

When told that Chase revealed to the New Jersey Star-Ledger that "Don't Stop" was the only song he wanted all along for the show capper, Perry said he wasn't surprised. "I felt he must have heard the song enough that he wrote something that fit the lyrics," Perry said. "The whole thing blew my mind."

=====

Damn you Steve Perry!

How the fuck do I search Sopranos..And this not come up..

Anyway..This is from Wiki..Just thought it was quite relevant to how the series "ended"..(I'm banking on a movie myself.)

Series finale

Main article: Made in America (The Sopranos)

The series ended its run on HBO on the night of June 10, 2007. The closing scene of the episode generated considerable controversy and speculation about its meaning. One possible ending to the Sopranos Series Finale lies in the credits. The mysterious man in the restaurant who watches the Soprano family before heading to the bathroom is listed in the episode's credits as "Man In Members Only Jacket - Paolo Colandrea". If you take every single letter in that credit and rearrange them you can spell out a hidden message(using the 36 letters only one time). That hidden message is "A Man Kills Tony,Carmela,AJ - Don Become Prone". The first part of the message states that the mysterious man kills Tony, Carmela, and AJ. Meadow isn't killed at the moment the screen went black because she was out trying to park the car. The second part of the message states that the Don (head of a Mob family) becomes Prone (prone is a face down position like Tony would've been on the table after being shot). Another clue to the ending was briefly stated in the Season 6 Part II Premiere when Bobby Baccala and Tony are talking about death Bobby stated "You probably don't even hear it when it happens", hence the fade to black ending. The final clue to the Sopranos ending lies in the title of the Season 6 Part I called Members Only. Members only is the jacket that the mysterious man was wearing in the finale and in the episode Members Only, Tony was shot. So the episode Members Only could have foreshadowed the series ending of Tony getting shot/killed and the actual Members Only Jacket is a form of symbolism representing death or being shot.
