What are your top 5 favorite movies...I say 5 because I know its kinda hard to narrow it down to just one.

Mine would have to be

Are you serious? why the hell did they do that?

I cannot stand how rappers think they are so badass because they have a picture of Tony Montana on their wall.

It drives me nuts.

Basically, Scarface was a VERY influential piece for gangsta rappers. From 2Pac to Puffy to fuckin' Scarface himself, rappers have taken after Tony "Scarface" Montana and the whole rag to riches, blaze of glory type story. Like Rockers take after "This Is Spinal Tap," Gangster rappers takeafter "Scarface."
"Scarface" basically was an underlining factor in the creation of gangsta rap.

So essentially, you are telling me Rappers are inspired by a man who was so coked out of his mind that he lost everyone he loved, killed his best friend, destroyed his family, and got lit up like a christmas tree?

^Yep, pretty much. The fact Tony came from notin'. No father, always into trouble, fall out wit his family, friend murdered, slowly rising up through the cracks, becomin' his own mayn, finally claiming his own empire, and of course, the ending where Tony goes out guns totin'. The whole "I Don't Give A Fuck" Attitude was very appealing to gangsta rappers. They see themselves in that light. Tryin' to make it in life, live fast die young attitude. That's who everyone wishes they could be. Money, fast cars, Gangster. It's the same shit with The Godfather, why da fuck would people love a movie that stereotypes Italians as mobsters. I know where you comin' from but the character Tony "Scarface" Montana is somewhat of a Pop Icon. Well, more like a Rap Icon.

I get the whole live fast die young thing...
My problem I guess comes from this
In the movie you see what that lifestyle, what those drugs, do to him and the people close to him.
It destroys him...it destroys everything he once loved
Why would someone idolize someone like that?
If anything the movie had a very strong anti-drug message. Somehow tho the message has been lost on most.
Scarface was an awesome movie, a cinematic classic. However Tony Montana is not a role model. No one should model their life after him.
