Well a few spring to mind:

Citizen Kane- the one that started it all, sculpted so many conventions into the film noir scene and was essentially a trendsetter in terms of cinematic navigation..landmark movie, easily one of the most influential movies of all time.

Metropolis- set science fiction standards above all other pieces of its early time, without a doubt the movie that shaped the convention of robots in science fiction movies from its black and white heyday to present day iconography.

Nosferatu- the first ever vampire movie...nuff said

Halloween- defined the trademark slasher movie stalker with Michael Myers and created convention that to this day can still seem fresh albeit overused in the horror genre as we see it today...milestone for horror movies.

Fight Club- not the first movie to toy with the idea of two or more actors playing the same character but when we compare it to the likes of All Of M e with Steve Martin it's safe to say that this movie has pulled off the concept in the most decisive way.Not a movie designed for the average cinema goer but made on a lavish scale by Fox..a rarity in movie making these days.

Dead Or Alive- most obscene ending in cinematic history...nuff said.

Blade Runner- the vision of the future that has come to be cliche in the neo noir/sci fi movies since its release to present day...the bleak future ideology is one of the most consistent in the mixed genres history and stays in tact even with new movies hitting our screens...the frame for science fiction to build upon.

Akira- great line used by some critic "No Akira, no Matrix...it's that important" daddy of Japanese Manga...simple as that.

I could add like a bah-zillion more but I can't really be fooked!

^That's what I want to know.

And I don'r really know movies that much, but I think that 2001 was a pretty important movie.

The first Alien movie with Sigorney Weaver

...hell, the second one too. They both pretty much set the bar for Sci-Fi/Horror movies.

Citizen Kane is a cinematic masterpiece....everyone should have to watch it once...but only once...no one should have to watch it any more than that

and for another movie that changed Cinema forever I gotta say...GREMLINS

because of Gremlins we have the PG-13 rating, the rating which has become the most commonly dished out rating

Reading about the ending of Dead Or Alive wouldn't do the movie any justice at all,I'd much rather people saw it for themselves because it would have a better impact on the viewer...the most I'll say is that it's a piece that in its last scene throws all movie conventions right out the window...you couldn't see an ending like this coming in a million years, check out the movie and see for yourself.
