MTV's Spider-Man Animated Series Update
Friday, May 30, 2003 4:46 CDT

'The Lizard' tells us that Mainframe Entertainment has announced that they'll be animating the upcoming 'superhero'-themed MTV Movie Awards. Will we see some new animation from the upcoming Spider-Man series?

Mainframe Entertainment, Inc., a leading creator of computer animation, has created the logo, branding, and original animation segments for this year's MTV Movie Awards, based on the "Superhero" theme chosen for the show. The segments include category introductions, as well as opening and closing segments for the awards, which will air June 5. The MTV Project is part of the animation studio's new venture into branding and commercials using its CGI design expertise.

"We are very happy to be such a creative part of the 2003 MTV Movie Awards," said the studio's CEO, Rick Mischel. "As Mainframe continues to grow, it's a natural transition to offer our services to commercial and branding projects in need of cutting-edge CGI animation and design. With the outstanding directorial, design, and artistic talent we have at Mainframe, we are able to produce top-quality animation for companies looking for a unique and exciting vehicle to promote their brand."

The MTV Movie Awards will have added flair this year with the animation components created by Mainframe. This will be the first time MTV will use custom CGI animated segments to enhance the awards. Segments introducing the award categories, which include everything from Best Kiss to Best Villain, will feature animated elements simulating comic book heroes. The theme of the show represents the huge success of superhero and comic book related movies to hit theaters in the past year, including nominees Spider-Man and Daredevil. Promotional spots for the awards also include animation, which coordinate with the logo created for the show, as well as the segments that will be used in the broadcast.

In addition to taking on projects such as the MTV Movie Awards, Mainframe Entertainment has recently expanded its slate of projects by joining forces with Animation Collective to market web design and flash animation services to producers for television, film, home video and the Internet.

Mainframe Entertainment Inc. is one of the world's most prolific producers of computer animation for television and direct-to-videos and is expanding into long-form CGI for feature films, commercials and interactive entertainment. The company is best known as the pioneer of computer animated television series for the groundbreaking "ReBoot." Mainframe has produced over 230 half hours of computer animation since its inception in 1993. In addition to its award-winning "Barbie as Rapunzel" direct-to-video feature, the company is currently in production of 13 episodes of "Spider-Man" for Sony Pictures Television. The company employs over 200 artists, animators, technicians and production personnel, and has won many prestigious awards of its creative technical innovations, including a Laureate of the 1998 Computerworld Smithsonian Awards.

Meanwhile, Comics Continuum has posted three new pics from the animated series which include Spider-Man swinging, a group shot of Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osborn, and a pic of Talon, a new villain created for the series.

mm I gave up on Spidey after the movie,I just did not like it 1 bit.To add insult to injury we come out of the Matrix Reloaded and a friend turns and says to me "pfft the special effects in Spider Man were way better".that right there tore it.If they get the series a little darker then they could be on to a winner though.
