Default I just got back from Europe

I've spent the past nine days traveling across a large part of Europe. I visited France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. It was by the far the greatest experience of my life.

I've always heard that French people are assholes, but I figured it was just an exaggerated stereotype. It's completely the truth though. I'd say 90% of all French people speak some English. Their music alternates between French and English and their movie posters are also in English (some of them). However, it is nearly impossible to find a French person who will speak English to Americans. All over Paris there are signs saying "Boycott America". Paris has an abundance of gypsies. These are ladies who approach you by asking if you speak English. If you say yes, they hold out a card for you to read which says that they're from Bosnia and they're looking for money to get home. Very simple, if you don't give them money, they pick pocket you. These buggers come up to you every five seconds. After the fourth one came up to me in two minutes and held out her card, I took my cigarette and burnt a hole right through the fucking piece of paper.

Switzerland was beautiful. We went to Lucerne which is unlike any place I've ever seen. It's a very rich part of Switzerland so everything is very overpriced there even though the currency is the Swiss Franc which is a couple of cents less than the dollar. A cheeseburger royale meal (a quarter pounder) in Lucerne cost me almost twelve francs which basically converts back to the same American. The McDonald's menu is insane. They have popcorn shrimp and beer. McFlurries come in a good ten or twelve different flavors two. Most McDonald's also have a McCafe, which is a restaurant inside of a restaurant that only sells coffee. I bought a Swiss Army knife in Switzerland with my name engraved in it.

We were only in Austria for a day so we didn't get to see much. It was very nice and the beer was very good. That's all I can tell about that place.

Germany was my favorite place on my trip. We stayed in Bavaria, right outside Munich. Our days there were spent mostly at the Hofbrauhaus, which is a huge pub where they sell beer by the liters. We happened to be there on the day of an FC Bayern Munchen soccer game which made it loads more fun.

My favorite part of the trip was just how important alcohol is to the European culture. Beer is served basically everywhere (and mixed with Sprite in Germany) and the drinking ages vary from 16 to 18, no ID necessary. The first beer I had in Germany tasted exactly like bubble gum. Vending machines sold beer.

Pot was especially difficult to find. We found it one night in Paris but everywhere else we could only find hashish, which at times was better. It's insane to just see people standing on street corners selling dope at all hours of the day.

If you have the money, go to Europe. It's nothing like I ever would've expected. Seeing the Louvre, the Palace of Versailles, Dochau concentration camp, going to the top of the Alps and the Eiffel Tower all changed my life. It's incredible how the rest of the world isn't like anything you'd see in America.
